How MileAudit helps

Simple enough for every volunteer

No timers or paper forms: drives are captured automatically and sorted with a swipe.

  • Automatic drive detectionThe phone app records each drive's route, distance and time in the background — no timer to start.
  • Business or personal in one swipeEvery new drive waits in your review list. Swipe or tap to classify it and add a business purpose.
  • Your employer's or client's rateSet your own per-mile rate for a year, and estimates and reports use it for that year's business drives.
  • PDF & CSV reportsExport any date range. The CSV lists every drive's date, start and end, miles, vehicle and business purpose.
The Drives page: drives grouped by day with route, distance and one-click Business and Personal buttons, plus totals and an estimated deduction.

Good to know

General information, not tax advice. Rules depend on your situation — confirm with a qualified tax professional.

  • Staff reimbursed by your organization: set your organization's per-mile rate for the year, and MileAudit's report values each work drive at that rate.
  • Volunteers who itemize can generally deduct unreimbursed miles driven for a qualified charity at the charitable rate of 14¢ per mile, set by law, plus parking and tolls.
  • MileAudit sorts drives as Business or Personal — mark mission drives as Business. Its dollar estimates use the IRS business rate unless you set your own, so volunteers should apply the charitable rate (or set 14¢ as their custom rate).
  • Each MileAudit account is for one person's records. Staff and volunteers each use their own account and share exported reports with the organization.

Frequently asked questions

Can volunteers use MileAudit?

Yes. Any volunteer can keep their own MileAudit account. Drives are logged automatically in the phone app, and the yearly report shows total miles with dates, routes and purposes.

Can our staff use the organization's reimbursement rate?

Yes. Each person can set a custom per-mile rate for the year under Mileage rate in Settings.

Is there an organization or team account?

Not yet — each account is for one person. Staff and volunteers export their reports (PDF or CSV) and send them to your organization.

Is location data shared with the organization?

No. Each person's drives stay in their own private account. They choose what to export and share.
